Definition
Voice cloning pricing follows from a simple fact: cloning is a Build feature, not a standalone product. It shares the Build API and pricing. Cloning is included on the paid plans, and synthesizing with a cloned voice is billed per character, exactly like text-to-speech.
Included on paid plans
Cloning comes with the paid tiers, Starter, Pro, Scale, and Enterprise, rather than being a separate purchase. It is not included on Free: a Free-tier clone attempt returns a 402 with the code voice_cloning_not_included, so the capability is gated to plans that carry it.
Synthesis is per character
Once a voice is cloned, speaking with it is billed per character of text, the same as any catalog voice. A cloned voice does not carry a synthesis premium, so your cost depends on how much text you synthesize, not on whether the voice is cloned. See the TTS pricing guide.
No separate product price
Because cloning is a Build capability, there is no separate per-clone product price to reason about. You are on a Build plan that includes cloning, and you pay per character for synthesis. See the pricing page and what voice cloning is.
